Plasmid pMK18

Description:
Plasmid pMK18 is a pUC-derived plasmid, containing sequences from Thermus thermophilus. It is a shuttle vector with a kat cassette under the control of a bifunctional promoter.
The vector allows the transfer of genes between E. coli or related proteobacterias and T. thermophilus (e.g. in thermostabilisation assays). It contains a kat cassette for thermostable-kanamycine selections.
The pMK18 allows the generation of transcriptional fusions between the kan cassette and the incorporated-genes coding for heterogenous proteins. In addition, transformants are screened through resistance to kanamycine (1).
