Description:
The Biofood Standard kit is a multiplex PCR reaction designed to detect the presence of vertebrate and plant material in food samples. The amplification of the cytochrome b gene, highly conserved through evolution, detects the presence of vertebrate material. The plant material in food samples is detected through the amplification of the rbcL gene, which also has a conserved sequence. This kit has a good sensitivity because a high number of copies of both genes is present in the respective samples.
